Do you want to meet an American family in the Santa Barbara area? Do you want to
visit an American home? Do you want to practice your English and make friends with
members of the local Santa Barbara community? The International Friendship Program
helps international students make contact with people outside of the UCSB student
community and experience a wider variety of American lifestyles.
There are many
individuals and families in the local community who want to meet and become friends
with international students. They are interested in learning about you and your
culture. They can help you learn more about American customs and values. The International
Friendship Program puts you in contact with an American friend or family. After
the initial contact is made you are free to continue the relationship in any way
that is mutually agreeable.
Creating a relationship with someone whose values and
customs are different from your own can be difficult. Understanding and accepting
difference through sharing and exploring them can be an experience of personal growth,
awareness, and fun. To see ourselves through other eyes is always an enlightening
experience. If you are interested in participating in this program, fill out the

at your convenience.
