The Office of International Students and Scholars offers English conversation classes
for students, scholars, and their family members. The classes are 2 hours long and
are held everyday each fall, winter, and spring quarter in the OISS conference room.
The classes are free, but students are requested to make a donation once a year
for social activities. The donations are the following depending on what quarter
you enroll: fall $25, winter $20, and spring $15. Classes are not for credit and
attendance is not obligatory. You can attend as many or as few of the classes as
you want.
The English conversation classes include regular monthly social activities
such as tours, parties, and dinners. An important part of language acquisition is
cultural immersion. The social activities will provide you with a chance to meet
other international students and to become acquainted with American culture.
OISS English teachers are all community volunteers with years of experience meeting and
working with people from around the world. The links below will introduce you to
our English language community volunteers.
