J-2 Employment

J-2 EMPLOYMENT REQUEST INSTRUCTIONS

According to immigration law, the J2 spouse (and/or children) may be granted permission to accept employment in the U.S. if such employment is only for the support of the J-2 dependent(s) and not for support of the J1 visa holder. This permission is available only after the J-2 has entered the U.S. and has submitted the following documentation by mail to the Immigration (Immigration and Naturalization Service) Service Center office which has jurisdiction over the area of U.S. residence. J2 request document check list:

• I-765 form (to be completed by J-2
• Xerox of J2's I-94 form and passport validity page
• Letter of request from J-2
• Two photos of J-2 refer to (photo instruction sheet)
• Xerox of J-1's I-94 form - both sides
• Xerox of J-1's DS-2019
• Budget showing dependent need
• $340.00 personal check payable to "U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service"
